We are life partners and co-founders of K9 Connections Inc. When we first met, we each had children, dogs and careers. Once we decided to blend our families, we were also faced with some career decisions. We wanted to pursue something we loved and something that would bring joy and purpose to our lives.

Since we both loved our dogs and loved being together as a family we both registered to become Certified Dog Trainers. The courses were awesome, and we enjoyed the training and hands-on experience we developed. That led to wanting to learn more, and so we did, seeking other ways to gain more education after graduating, and we’ve never looked back.

We have since completed multiple Dog Training and certificate courses across North America and continue to build on our training methods, techniques and tools that have greatly increased the value of our training programs.

Our dream has become a reality, and we couldn’t be happier to share our knowledge with the beloved dogs and owners who put their trust in us.

Rob is the head trainer and brings calmness and confidence to the work he does. He works with the dogs during assessments, private sessions and board and train programs. He is an excellent teacher and enjoys educating people on how to lead and love their dog. He is a natural with dogs and truly believes every dog can change if given the guidance and opportunity.

Kayla has always loved dogs and from a young age knew she wanted to work with animals. Kayla manages all of our social media, and loves capturing photos and videos of all our K9 clients. She brings industry knowledge and hands on experience from her previous occupations in large dog kennels, dog walking service and dog rescue. Kayla is a dedicated, reliable and hard working individual who has worked with many dogs of different shapes, sizes and breeds. She loves her work and does it with a smile on her face!

Mel is a passionate and dedicated dog lover with a background in doggy daycare. Her experience in a daycare setting has given her extensive knowledge in the importance of creating a safe, fun, and enriching environment for all dogs. Melissa’s love for animals goes beyond just a job—it’s a way of life. Whether she’s playing with pups, simply cleaning the kennels, or outside walking dogs in the dead of winter, her enthusiasm shines through in everything she does!

Ollie is an animal lover through and through, with a genuine passion for working with dogs. With experience as a dog sitter and having grown up in a rural town surrounded by hunting dogs, she has developed a strong appreciation for canine behaviour and care. Ollie brings a dedicated mindset and a strong desire to continue learning and growing within the dog world. She absolutely loves every dog that comes through the kennel and treats each one as if they were her own, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

Cass is a passionate and dedicated individual who completed her schooling as a veterinary assistant. With hands-on experience working with her own rescue dog, she brings both knowledge and empathy to her role. Cass takes pride in creating a safe, positive, and comfortable environment for every pet in her care. She enjoys getting to know each dog’s unique personality and ensuring they feel happy and well cared for. In her free time, Cass loves spending time outdoors with her dog.

Alana is excited to be returning to K9 Connections for her second summer with the team. She is currently completing her degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph and is passionate about continuing to grow her knowledge in dog behaviour and training. Having learned so much during her time with the team last summer, Alana is eager to keep building her experience while working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. Growing up around Labradors, she has always loved being around dogs and brings a friendly, patient, and caring attitude to everyone she meets. She looks forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting many new dogs this season.

Sonia plays a key role behind the scenes, managing the administrative and operational side of the business, working closely with Rob and Robin to keep everything running smoothly. With an undergraduate degree in Health Science with a focus on management, and previous experience as a laboratory supervisor at a veterinary diagnostic laboratory, Sonia brings both organization and industry knowledge to the team. She takes pride in helping create a safe, structured, and positive environment for both staff and dogs alike!
